10 Tips for Overcoming Anxiety Attacks Naturally

If you’ve ever had an anxiety attack, you know how miserable it is.  It’s not something you want to happen on a regular basis.  You can find several treatments for anxiety attacks like therapy, medications, and hypnosis.  Of course therapy and hypnosis are expensive, and medications have several risks.  If you want to treat your anxiety naturally, here are several tips you can use.

  1. Stress management- The best way to treat anxiety is to stay relaxed.  Obviously the best way to manage stress is to avoid it completely.  If this isn’t an option for you, you’ll need to find some way to unwind.  You may listen to relaxing music or watch a funny movie, whatever works for you.

  1. Relaxed breathing- A great way to overcome anxiety is to focus on your breathing.  You can take slow deep breaths anytime you start to feel anxious.  This can also help you during an attack.

  1. Visualization exercises- Next time you start to feel anxiety, try some visualization techniques.  There are several you could try.  One exercise is to visualize your self being completely relaxed in a beautiful, soothing location until your anxiety passes.

  1. Meditation- This is a great relaxation technique.  While you can do this anytime you need to relax, you may want to add it into your daily routine for better results.

  1. Muscle relaxation- When your muscles are relaxed, you’re much more able to relax.  You could sit in a jetted tub or spa with massaging jets.  You could even get a nice massage after a particularly stressful time.

  1. Sleep- If you’re low on sleep, all of the negative emotions that trigger anxiety are even more heightened.  Try to get plenty of sleep at night to stay healthy and stress free.

  1. Good nutrition- Besides being healthy, a good diet is necessary for your body to function properly.  When your body doesn’t have the proper nutrition you could feel tired and moody, which causes anxiety.

  1. Regular exercise- If you don’t get regular activity, you need to start doing so.  Getting physical exercise on a regular basis is one of the top stress relievers.  You don’t have to work out for hours, just try to get in 30 minutes a few times per week.  If you can do more, you’ll probably see more results.

  1. Reduced caffeine and stimulants- Stimulants like drugs and tobacco, as well as large amounts of caffeine, can increase the occurrence of anxiety attacks.  If you can’t cut them out of your life completely, you should at least cut down as much as possible.

  1. Support- One of the best ways to cope with your anxiety attacks is to find some support.  You can call on your family or friends when you need help.  You can even try to find a support group if you want.  If you can’t find a local one, you should be able to find one online.

These are just a few tips you can use to overcome your anxiety attacks.  There are several others that you can try out as well.  You may notice that the main theme of all of them is to relax.  That’s the biggest key to overcoming anxiety.  You should do whatever you need to do to stay calm.
